Can I just listen to VHF Radio for my local maritime radio?
would I be able to modify a normal radio or my computer to recieve VHF radio or would I have to buy a marine handheld etc?
You'd be much better off just buying a handheld radio and it would probably be cheaper too. Don't know if they have any left but Boaters World, as they are going out of business, had a couple of great units on sale for less than $50. Check them out at www.boatersworld.com and see if they have any left.
Just looked at their site and two examples would be:
Midland Marine: Normally $70 on sale for $49.99
Horizon Marine: Normally $99 on sale for $62.50
Good luck!
