Here are some more information for Aviation Pilots:

A few years ago opting to become a pilot was one of the best career decisions to make as it offered both prestige and money. However, over the few years the lull in the aviation industry at large has caused the entire framework of lucrative jobs to come crashing down. The high flying career of a pilot has come to a halt and is no longer as cushy as it once was.
In India a number of aviation academies had cropped up to train aspiring pilots but the drastic economic shift, the rising oil prices and the reduction of expansion services of aviation companies has caused a huge downturn in the number of students opting to become a pilot. A few years back the aviation industry in India was touching a new high and a number of private airlines like Indigo Air, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Deccan Air and Spice Jet among others were offering connecting flights to most of the major cities of India. In a span of four years the apparent ebb in the industry not only caused the industry to cut back on the number of flights but also forced them to reduce the number of pilots as well as their pay checks.
This phenomenon was not secluded to India alone and was seen in airline companies around the globe. Take for instance the catastrophic closure of the Scottish airline FlyGlobespan that shut down in one night! The heavy debts and the repeated losses caused the airline to shut down. Due to the sudden closure of this Scottish airline most of its crew including the pilots were left stranded across the globe! This incident along with several others has caused a relative fear of joining an airline in any capacity.
The Jet Airways cutbacks that were splashed all over the papers and shown on all news channels across India had created quite a flutter amongst aspiring pilots. Many students who thought of joining ranks with the other successful pilots are now opting to go for an MBA. Considering the cost of becoming a pilot that runs up to a hefty 20 Lakhs or more in India, many are choosing to go for professional courses that offer greater stability than that offered in the world of aviation.
The sudden closures, cutbacks, retrenchments, salary cuts along with no-new-hiring policy have left many in the lurch. There are at least 5000 if not more unemployed pilots in India who are now looking for jobs in cargo, private charter planes and even joining regular offices.
But if analytical reports are to be believed the aviation industry is going to rise once again. Rise and fall are a very natural order of things. The worst time for the Indian aviation industry was in 2008-2009. But the strong support of the government, private entrepreneurs and the rising economy is going to have a very positive impact on the industry this year. It should come as no surprise that the hiring's for pilots will begin soon and pilots that have been unemployed for some time now will touch the skies once again.

Careers In The Aviation Industry
The air-transport aviation industry has grown tremendously over the years and includes all aspects of commercial airlines. The past few years, have been difficult for the aviation industry. The 9/11 attacks on World Trade Center and the subsequent security delays at airports dealt a major blow to the aviation industry.
However, with rapid globalization in this fast paced world, the aviation industry has emerged as one of the fastest growing industries in the world. The upward trend in both aviation and travel industries has lead to an increase in job opportunities in the aviation, travel and hospitality industries. With the world getting smaller each day, there will be a constant demand for people trained in aviation careers.
Sound Education: A Must
If aviation is your choice of career, then you need to educate yourself to excel in this challenging field. Career options in this field are unlimited and you are required to learn the skills from a recognized institute to pursue them. Before you choose a particular field from the aviation line, you should be aware of the number of job options available and their individual scope.
Aviation careers can be divided into Flying Careers and Management Careers. Career options include Pilots, Flight Engineers, Flight Attendants, Cabin attendants, In-flight Supervisors, Technicians, Flight Coordinators, and Crew Schedulers. Other job options such as Airport Security, Line Service Personnel, Business Development, Cost Analysts, Aeronautical Engineers, Ground Instructors, Airport Managers, Technical Writers, and Air Traffic Controllers have also attracted a significant number of job seekers.
Once you have identified the field you are interested in, determine the educational qualifications and expertise required for that field. Most careers in this field require strong arithmetic skills and sound computer knowledge.
Pilot Training Lessons
Do not limit your aviation career by applying only at large airports and major airlines. You will be surprised to know that small and local airports strewn across the country also provide excellent job opportunities. Pilot training is constantly required in small aircraft. You can begin private pilot training even before you complete high school, and can offer you a BIG break in the personal aviation field.
If your inclination were towards military aviation, then Air Force would be the obvious choice. To become a pilot in the military, you need to undergo full-fledged training in college. The Service Academies would be evidently the first option, however you can also become a military pilot by attending an extensive college program, which offers ROTC training.
To become a commercial pilot, you must be qualified to obtain a commercial pilot license or CPL. This also involves many hours of flying, plus theory examinations. A new CPL holder would need either a command instrument rating or an instructor rating, in order to meet the requirements of the employer. You can also obtain professional training for aircraft repair and other mechanical jobs and acquire the necessary skills. Air traffic control is another promising and lucrative career option in the aviation industry.
Several aviation academies have emerged owing to the increasing demand for skill and expertise in aviation fields. Such academies chisel young minds and groom their careers. Most of them have specialized training programs for those aspiring to become Flight Attendants.

No, they do not teach future commercial pilots. They do have a gliding club, where a student can receive instructions in non-powered flight. They also have an "Institute for Aviation and the Environment."
About the Institute
The University of Cambridge Institute for Aviation and the Environment (IAE) incorporates the latest scientific research, technological developments and economic thinking to address the needs of the aviation and aerospace industries regarding the environment. The improvements in technology and operation, needed to allow sustainable development of air transport, depend crucially on the delivery to manufacturers, airlines and regulators of robust results incorporating improved understanding of the processes and interactions that determine the environmental impact. The Institute fosters a close alliance between academia, industry and government to facilitate the transfer of knowledge by aligning world-leading research with end-user needs.
