Free Your Hands With Bluetooth Wireless Headsets
Sometimes you just need to talk on the phone at the same time that you need to accomplish another important task or two. And, in this day and age, when the ability to multi-task is ever more important, Bluetooth wireless headsets are a huge help.
Bluetooth headsets are hands-free, wire-free devices that you simply attach onto your ear. This gives you the freedom to take care of other important tasks, such as using the computer, doing the dishes, driving the car, or anything else that is better done with both hands, yet still allows you to carry on a phone conversation.
Bluetooth wireless headsets can be used with Bluetooth enabled phones which allows you to talk on your cell phone, both hands-free and without wires that might get tangled up in your task. But there are other uses for a Bluetooth wireless headset as well. You could use it to connect to a computer that is Bluetooth enabled which would allow you to listen to music and use your VoIP phone.
The popularity of its headsets has continually increased since they were first introduced. They have proven to make people's lives easier and more productive, not to mention safer, when it comes to being able to drive with both hands on the wheel and still have a clear conversation via your cell phone.
Bluetooth headsets are also being designed to be more stylish and in some circles, could even be considered a fashion, or at least a technology statement. If you are ever in a store or an airport or waiting in line at the movies and see someone who appears to be talking to themselves, it's a good bet that if you could catch a glimpse of the other ear, you would see their Bluetooth wireless headset.
Another advantage of wireless headsets over their wired predecessors, is that this mobile wireless technology also delivers crystal clear quality of sound. In addition, you can use your enabled headset to use all of the voice activated commands that are available in your wireless phone. This makes it easy to send, receive and even make phone calls from your cell phone even if it is stowed away in a purse, pocket or briefcase, as long as your phone has functions that can be voice activated.
When you are considering which of the available headsets is best for you, there are a number of different features that you should check out. Since there are so many choices, a Bluetooth wireless headset should have just the right compliment of functions that you require.
One of the first things you will want to check on in a wireless headset, is the range of the device. The range will vary somewhat depending of the version and the power class. In most cases, a Bluetooth wireless headset will be able to connect to other devices of this technology within a range of about 30 feet.
Active noise reduction (ANR) is an important feature to look for in a wireless headset. ANR headsets use a specific technology that is able to reduce the ambient noise from your surroundings. This is especially helpful in improving your conversations while you are on the road or anytime you have a lot of background noise.
One popular feature that is available on some Bluetooth wireless headsets is an LCD display. This tiny display on your headset allows you to see who is calling with the Caller ID feature. It also allows you to access the features of your Bluetooth wireless headset.

Low-end ANR or top of the line passive noise reduction headset?
I found this headset when looking around and its a pretty reasonably priced ANR: sportys.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?DID=19&Product_ID=4937&CATID=94#desc
or sportys.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?DID=19&Product_ID=6686&CATID=94#desc
I'm sure I could find one even cheaper, but I have been told that sigtronics and lightspeed make very comfortable headsets... which is important to me.
However I have also been told that most good ANR headsets range over the $700 range and for the price I am paying I could get a high end passive noise reduction headset. It makes me think that there are probably good reasons that an ANR would be so cheap.
If a high end passive would be better for me (training) what would you recommend for the same budget?
Thank you
If it were me, I would go with the ANR, even the low end ones provide better noise reduction than the high end passives and they do so with less pressure on the head!
Just my opinion but having used everything from Sigtronics to David Clarks to Bose to LightSpeed Zulu's the ANR's were always much better.
I couldn't see the links as you have to be level 2 for those to work but I suspect your looking at Sigtronics S-AR ANR http://www.sportys.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&did=19&product_id=4937 ? If so they are not bad at all.
I will tell you to do some looking around. I like Sportys but they are not the least expensive place to shop.
Here is a good ANR unit for some savings as well. http://www.avshop.com/product/ITEM5931/7?r=google_AF_A450b
The AvShop unit at $249 is really a good headset just not known real well. Others to consider would be the FlightCom Denali http://www.headsetsetc.com/denanrhead.html
But DO SHOP around, remember many of the Mfgs have a MAP (manufacturers minimum advertised price) which means the prices that can be had or obtained may not be advertised!
