Breitling takes watch making seriously. This company, founded back in 1884, is determined to produce the highest quality time keeping instruments in the world. One of their most amazing timepieces is the Breitling Emergency. The Emergency is part of Breitling's Professional Collection of watches. It was originally created for professional pilots and aviation crews, and features a micro-transmitter built right inside. This specialized transmitter will broadcast on the aircraft emergency frequency of 121.5 MHz.
Upon a crash or unexpected landing, the Emergency watch is designed to emit a signal, so that rescuers can locate you. This watch is to be used as a back up to standard emergency ELT beacons.
The Breitling Emergency, which is used for military purposes, is equipped with a transmitter, which broadcasts on the 243 MHz or standard military frequency. With calm conditions or flat terrain, the Emergency's signal can be picked up at a distance of nearly 90 nautical miles, and by aircraft flying at an altitude of 20,000 feet. The watches signal is monitored by aviation and not by satellite.
The Emergency's distress signal is activated is "James Bond" fashion, by unscrewing the back and extending the antenna, completely. Once activated, the Emergency's beacon or signal will transmit, continually for 48 hours, allowing rescuers ample time to locate you.
The Breitling Emergency is obviously much more than a simple watch, and I'm certain that British pilots, Steve Brooks and Hugh Quentin-Smith were relieved they were wearing theirs the day their plane went down. The Squadron Leader and Flight Lieutenant crashed their helicopter near Antarctica. After the emergency landing, the two pilots, both wearing the Breitling Emergency watch, activated their micro-transmitters. A Chilean Otter aircraft was able to locate them, by zeroing in on their signal. After spending some time floating at sea in a lifeboat, the pilots were rescued and brought safely home, thanks to the aide of their Breitling Emergency Transmitter watch.
Breitling will sell the Emergency watch to clients without a pilot's license, but they are asked to sign a waiver, which states that the buyer will accept all costs related to a rescue mission.
The Emergency is a fascinating instrument, and can be a lifesaver in an urgent situation. It has even been seen on the wrist of Bear Grylls, the host and main attraction on Man vs. Wild. Bear wears the model with a bright yellow dial, and black rubber strap. If you put yourself in extreme situations, the Breitling Emergency watch could just turn out to be your best friend.

Two Way Communication made Easier
A two way communication is made much quicker, cheaper, and simpler with a Two Way Radio, which is a device capable of transferring as well as receiving at the same time. It works on a dual frequency system. Unlike a broadcast, it is a Transceiver. A very common example of such a device is our very own cell phone. AM (Amplitude Modulation) Radios are another example of this duplex communication, extensively used in Aircraft communications for navigating etc. FM or Frequency Modulation is used in radios, but again this is a one way communication or a ‘broadcast'.
In the same category of FM, the conventional radio types may be Family Radio Service or FRS, but in this case, FM is used for a two way communication, and not merely a Broadcast. Since it is a very low cost substitute for communication, it has gained wide popularity with Business communication also.
For communication to take place there may be ‘Simplex' or ‘Duplex' channels. The former uses a single channel for communication, whereas, on the latter, two different channels are used for communication. The Simplex radio Communication is very popular with the aircraft VHF AM and the marine radios; whereas mobile phone networks use duplex communication. A specific quality about the Duplex Communication is that it requires a proper infrastructure for its operations to take place. There may also be a Hybrid of the above two which can alternate between the two functions.
There are also analog and digital two way radios, the latter being a very complex one to handle. An example of the Digital Radio may be Motorola's MOTOTBRO, and of the analog may a simple walkie talkie used by families etc.
These days, the two way communication has gained a lot of popularity due to its cheap cost and less maintenance costs. One can use the walkie talkies very conveniently at home, to communicate with the family folks for dinner, in the garden, etc. Also, it is most widely used in office buildings, malls etc. where the area of the building is so huge that it needs many security guards, and it is a very common sight when we see Security Personnel communicating with each other over these walkie talkies. The more complex and advanced Two Way communication is used within the police services.
A very important feature of the Two Way Communication Devices is that most of them use a battery eliminator, making them a very portable device. Many new accessories have come up in the market to enhance the communication advantages in order to give the customer a better experience with the gadgets, for instance, if one has a Motorola Radio, one can always go for Motorola Radio Accessories. Two way communications is indeed a great advantage for communication.

Ref: Lakenheath [UK] Airforce Base [Sky 3 T/V 31 March 2008]?
I'm British. Today I viewed a recorded television program concerning the transfer of a USAF Colonel and his family, to a Base in my country. On arrival the wife complained about the size of their alloted accommodation and the width of our roads, the daughter wants to begin her 'Missionary' work here. Neither had yet left the Base!
A local Community leader living next to the perimiter fence complains about the aircraft noise from the Base; and the broadcast by the Public Address System, of your repetitive National Anthem and Oath of Alleigence, that he found particularly irritating, perhaps because we British don't need to be constantly reminded who we are.
A young American civillian was also in the program, living in the local community and loving the experience, he has many British friends and is soon to enter Oxford University. I hope he's a typical American, because that's the type of Yank I like.
I haven't asked a question but welcome comments on what's written
I'm a dual-citizen, and I have been on that base many times...
Brandon is a lovely area, and sure the aircraft do make noise, but I think it is a 'necessary evil' in our world today.
As for her religious campaign, I hope she chokes on her wafers / whatever. Who the hell does she think she is...?
WRT national anthems being played-out all the time - you have touched on one of my pet-hates. I cannot stand to endure forced-patriotism, where ever I find it. But sure, being blasted out over loudspeakers would have my home on the market in no time. Kinda reminds me of the Muslim call to prayers that I used to hear in KL, Malaysia, you couldn't avoid it in the city, and I found it to be intrusive in my opinion.
If they complain about the roads, send them to Cornwall's A30....the experience should shut them up long before they reach Lands' End.
My 2c....
